The longest night approaches

Well winter is upon us here. Its cold and snowy outside but we have been keeping warm, for the most part. The big news is we are now in full egg production. All three of our hens are putting out eggs! The down side is there wont be any fresh chicken for the stew pot but hey I can wait. Im currently taking a bit of a break from trying to get the water heater set up for them. We have been defrosting and using warm water to try and keep their water from turning solid but with a 5 day trip coming up we figured we needed a real heater.

We have already started getting seed catalogs which means as soon as holiday hectics are out of the way it will be time to start planing. Im already working on the designs for the new potting shed and expanded chicken run(we want to get a few for birds next year) so even the next year project list is starting to grow. oh well winter is a time for planning

I need to get out into the woods and do a bit of firewood harvesting. I havent used the chain saw since I hurt my back but I have split a few logs. as long as I stop when I can start to feel it I seam to be ok. I just have to keep myself from pushing it.
